[V8] I Want This Fo My V8

Sorry boys, I just spent a couple hours in a 2012 M5 yesterday, and I'm hit with shock and awe again. I could care less what BMW does with the speakers for Active Noise Control (and lest anyone forget, Audi and Lotus are right there with a partnership contract for the same damn thing with Harmon)... 500lb/ft of torque at *1500* rpm 550hp, that's R8 power, and Audi could use some lessons on DSG from the Bavarian boys. I hope for the day when Audi can jump ahead in this race.... Thankfully I also got to drive Dupree's (LT1Q builder) v10tdi Touareg a couple weeks ago, or I woulda thought VAG has totally lost it's direction. Ah, and it's a discontinued engine, and we just don't get the good ones (W12 tdi Q7 = europe only).
I live an Audi enthusiast life as my job and my DD. My old ProRally navigator lives the BMW life and DD them. Damn do I get perspective when I drive some of those beasts. The topper was doing the M performance school and 2010 DSG 4door M3 Spartanburg delivery last year. After an enviable delivery worthy of customer is king (hello?), whacking that heavenly DSG through Deals Gap and Tail of the Dragon? No speaker interruption in that beast, not necessary, and the F1 rev-matching sound on double downshifts was a sound I'll never forget.... Waking up 3 days later, my Quattros were a underwhelming reality after a first class vacation.
Loyalty to the Audi marque? Got it. Expectation that Audi will bring out at least as good toys? I have that expectation too. Problem: I've driven too many nice cars from the other camp in the last 2 years... M3, 135 dinan, 335 dinan, 535xi, X6M, X5M, 750i twinturbo, and now the M5. If this game is a tennis match, I'm waiting for that ace that's eluding Audi repeatedly. The 3.0T is a great engine, but it hasn't found the great package to match it yet... Come on gents, don't let Mercedes be your only competition.
My .02

Yep, and it will surely last plenty of years as well.
German engineer "Gee, lets overengineer the car, adding pounds, to make it
super quiet. Then, let's add extra electronics to bring the desirable sounds
back in"
Hmm, gotta love engineers,

I guess they feel they've perfected the automobile and can move on to other
pursuits.

the M5's internal computer monitors the state of the engine and pumps
a mimicked sound through the car's audio system. If you pound on the gas,
the soundtrack changes to match what the beefy V8 is doing under the hood.
