Happy New Year! I just gotta tell everyone about the long interview posted in Ashley Howland’s blog in Australia. It’s here http://stitchsays.wordpress.com/
It’s about “The Mists of Adriana” my book on year end special at Amazon.com for all electronic device readers...it’s FREE December 30 and 31st.
I’m getting some really good reviews now for this romantic thriller that takes place on the Maine Coast.
One reviewer said: “In this first book of a planned trilogy the author treats us to a fast-paced debut novel full of intrigue and danger. As in `Rebecca', the classic story from du Maurier we are never given the name of our adventurer, however this trick works so well that I did not realize the absence of a name until I began the review process, so bravo Mr. Woodbury.”
And another said: “Adriana is a, well, she isn't what she seems to be. Something like a female James Bond is the best description I can come up with. Adriana is smart, sexy, and yet vulnerable. I am a great science fiction fan, and to me Adriana reminds me of many of the female characters in Robert Heinlein's science fiction works. The book kept my attention, because I never knew what was going to happen once. A conspiracy theory is quickly converted into real life and death situations. I just hope Adriana will reappear in the next book in the series”
In the beginning of the story the early chapters discuss the principal character’s interest in the Porsche 928. But this is not a story about cars but about a man entering his autumnal years when to his surprise he meets the very beautiful and somewhat mysterious Adriana Barrows for whom he falls hard. Their relationship develops as the pieces of her past are peeled away like the layers of an onion until there is a monumental climax not anticipated by either character. In the end some of the mysteries of this woman are revealed and yet more emerge as the principal character relearns a lesson learned the hard way on the killing fields of Vietnam many years previously. That lesson is that often when things seem too good to be true, they often are.
This book is free tomorrow and Monday on Amazon.com. It is available in paperback also, but that has to be bought the hard way as I have no control over that distribution. The Mists of Adriana is the first in a series, the second book is underway and will be out before the summer.
And for all of my Audi friends who are now stamping their feet because they see no Audi content to this post, at this stage in the second novel, perhaps there should appear a white 200 twenty valve avant just to keep things moving....if you read The Mists of Adriana, toward the end you will see why this might make some sense.
