[V8] ABH piston/conrod/block orientation...

Hi guys,

have had a mixed heap of dismantled “spare” ABH engines in my garage for a
few years. Struck by unexpected flow of motivation I decided to assemble one
complete unit , but faced a problem already at startup: I cannot remember
how the piston/conrod combo is oriented(I thought I had taken photos during
disassembly - seems I did not). Piston has an arrow indicating “front” and
conrod has a cast “arrow” on the big end cap also implying “front”.

But, to confuse myself I have a photo of a piston/conrod combination freshly
taken out(but not from my engines), which shows the piston and conrod
arrows pointing into opposite directions. However, the photo is not 100 %
trustworthy, since the cap has been removed once and put loosely back on
again. It looks like the cap is right way around, though.

I am hesitating to drop the oil pan on my car – just to check

I know the piston arrows point forward, but how the heck are conrods
oriented in relation to pistons and to the block banks? Anyone have a set of
intact piston/rod combos to check?

Thanks for reading and A Happy New Year!
