I have some BTDT on this:
first off, DO NOT buy the cheap brass core. It will get a hole in it due
to electrolysis after only a few months. On the bright side, you get good
at R&R of the core...
The core I ended up with was aluminum, but was some chinese piece-o-crap
that still stinks after several years. If yours seems to be covered with a
smelly oily substance, don't assume it will just go away. Wash it off
real good.
Other than that, just follow the procedure in the Bentley. It is quite
good. The only difference I remember was that I removed the hood. I am
not sure if that is strictly required, but it is way worth it.
You are probably also going to want to replace the heater hoses. You
should get your line of credit in shape now.
