Hey Bob, if you haven't blinked out the codes for either, you are  
"barking up a leather lined luxury blind pig".  If the car starts  
fine, then bad on warmup, then could be coolant temp sensor/OX/ 
Reference sensor/?...Best starting point would be to blink out the  
codes.  I replaced the coolant sensor in the 5-speed(which was purple  
and was supposed to be white which bothered me), and while I had no  
codes as I recall, it warmed up/ran better/better mileage, but I  
wasn't having any of the issues you are having.  I replaced the  
coolant sensor on the Lago car when I did the belt job because it was  
only $20 and it was a good time to do it(distributor was out) and it  
was 20 years old.  If you haven't done any of those sensors recently,  
then it's good money spent anyway( They are things that get replaced  
eventually and they will all add up to what someone might want for an  
ECU/TCU or even the eleusive Multi-Function Switch.  I think your  
"timing" issues are unrelated to the tranny, but ?  Of course if the  
codes say Speed sensor/whatever, then I'd start there.......Tom
