My ex-girlfriend's dad replaced BOTH 1990 Lago V8's(one to me) back
in 2002 with a 4.2 and a 2.7T. I got to drive that 2.7T shortly
after I had become familiar with driving the V8, and I remember
thinking that I can't wait till it get's handed down to me ;-)...,
and have always wanted one. For $1200 Arnott Inc. makes a Bilstein
Coil-over to get rid of the Pneumatic system, and I believe they
still make a Pneumatic that's supposed to be more bomber than the
original's. Since my girlfriend was on a mission to spend a chunk of
money on that Subaru, I was recently looking at alternatives, and was
amazed at the low book value of the Allroads. I looked at one in
town that had 68K/2.7T/6-speed and just had the Pneumatic pump
replaced/front CV booties/fluids, and it was around $12K from a
dealer. When I got home, the KBB Private party high figure was
around $9500, which made all this other crap I'd been looking at look
cheap.
For $2500 Roger, even if it needed a $2000 tranny(there's one in RI),
the 100K still makes that sound affordable. Wonder how much work it
would take to stuff a V8 5-speed tranny/newer 6 speed into it.....Hmmmm
