Hey Bob, I'll second Ed's gluing suggestion as you may have noticed,
there aren't a lot of 4.2 distributors out there. However, if you
are unfortunate as I was with the 93 Pearl car, the connector got
loose, and the "window" in the spinning disk severed all 3 wires
inside. I was able eventually to solder all 3 back together(without
having to disassemble the distributor) and seal that solder joint/JB-
weld(the quick stuff) the wires/connector back in place so they
didn't get near that "spinning window of hassle", and all was well
and it's still working as far as I know. Many said that the lack of
Hall signal would just make the ECU go into a "predetermined" mode
and shouldn't effect things much, but I did notice a big difference
when I got that soldered back together, however I didn't have your
symptoms and the "wait 5 min" thing makes me think it's something
else (sensor like Ed had already said/maybe a fuel thing. I've found
that if you remove the big green O-ring on the distributor, you can
easily slip it in(only goes on 1 way), then tape the rotor to the
body so it can't move, and reinstall with the new O-ring(you wouldn't
put that old one back in would you) which can be a struggle. The
main reason I got rid of the 93 was oil burning, but the rest was
lack of availability of things like this....Even though it was
Pearl......Good luck......
