Hi Bob,
My guess is that the problem is the sunroof motor - or more specifically
the limit switches mounted to it. The motor is not too hard to remove,
and once out you can put an ohm meter to the switches and see if they are
working. I have had to carefully disassemble mine and clean the contacts
over the years. This is a good time to clean up/grease the tracks and
cables that operate the sunroof too. If you do this you will greatly
prolong the life of the motor by reducing drag on it.
To fully answer your reset question below, no. There is nothing to reset
and no electronics involved. The direction of the motor is determined by
the open/close switch and the limit switches. All if this stuff is
located under the sunroof motor cover.
