[V8] And maybe flickers back on again . . .

There are a lot of these in Utah, just do a bit of searching. Some
manufacturers (Honda, F.I.) sell them new.
I don't have any experience with CNG vehicles, but have experience with two
Propane powered vehicles, and quite a # of propane powered forklifts.
For the propane power, there were a couple of things to consider. First,
there is about 20% less power, not an issue on any of the ones I've driven.
Also, a reduction in economy, but at $1.50/gal, you will still come out way
ahead. There is less cylinder lubrication. Not enough to be a huge deal, but
it's there nonetheless. The conversion requires a tank, which has to be put
somewhere, and a spare (If you like to be prepared) since fill up stations
are a bit harder to find. You will need to figure out how to plumb in the
"carburetor". I'm thinking on the V8 probably in front right above the
throttle body, or in the rear, and use the air filter box out of another
vehicle mounted elsewhere.
The two vehicles I have personal experience with are My parent's old full
sized Ford E100 Van, and a late 70's Cheverolet full sized service truck.
The Ford was converted back to Gasoline after about four years, when I
rebuilt the 351 Cleveland to replace the original (and very tired) 302. The
Cheverolet was actually converted to Hydrogen, as I was experimenting with
it when I was in college for engineering. None of these vehicles used any
gasoline at all, only propane.
That's about all I know on the subject, HTH,
Tony
