[V8] Phooey, I guess I'll fix the darn thing

Subject line says it all. Propane conversion is dead in the water. While technically possible, and
not hugely complex, the local Propane distributor is now selling it for $4.50 a gallon, up markedly
from the last time I checked, even casually.

Seems the price of propane isn't regulated (like electricity) so vendors can charge whatever the
market will bear. Around here (rural FL) there are a lot of mobile homes which are heated/cook/heat
water with bottled gas, and unfortunately, they can't just buy somewhere else because somewhere else
is either too far away and/or they don't deliver - so they get whacked on the price.

Gasoline has a *little* (very little) price competition, you can go across the street or to the
cheapo station, no such option realistically exists for mobile home owners, and the vendors know it.

Propane as a vehicle fuel isn't quite so bad, the vehicle is mobile and there are some options as to
where you refuel.

The killer of course is that propane is more expensive than gasoline, so what's the point of doing
this, the economic justification just went away. In Euroland, with fuel prices at $8.00 a gallon and
up, it makes sense. Here, it is a waste of time, money and energy.

Propane would have to be $1 to $2 cheaper per gallon than gasoline for this to work. It isn't, so it
doesn't.

Guess I'll have to pull the tank and clean it after all . . . phooey.
