[V8] '93 V8Q - Speed sensitive power assisted steering

Hi Allan,
do you mean that power steering suddenly stops supporting you,
especially at lower speed? E.g. you are driving straight forward and
start steering to the left or to the right: the first second you receive
full support, but then steering is getting much harder?
This is a known problem, I have the same issue... it seems to be an
electric issue: you have the power steering control unit (green box,
about the size of a cigarette packet) and you have the valve at the
steering gear, where the information "how much support is needed" is
received... and of course the wiring between this valve and the control
unit.
As first steps you can do the following:
- change control unit to check if yours is maybe faulty
- check the wiring: use the workshop manual to measure the connectivity
of the control unit and the valve
I did this some months ago and connection between valve and control unit
was bad.... after applying some WD40 steering was much better.
