Yesterday I spent some time trying to fix the climate control in the
Black car during a break in the weather. Since none of the buttons
responded and the fan was on high constantly, I thought I'd just
swap out the control head. Without consulting the book, I proceeded
to mostly remove the center console as there was coffee stains/
whatever on the sides and I wanted to clean it. Realized in the end,
that I could have done the swap by just removing the 2 screws under
the wood trim, but the console looks much nicer now. I even removed
the clear plastic cover on the head unit and got all the dust/etc
behind the "screen" so it looks new. Known good control head changed
nothing. I started thru the procedure in the book today, and once
realizing where the AC Blower Control Unit J126 was, swapped it off
my spare AC box, and everything works flawlessly now including the
AC. Good thing I did remove the kick pad also as the monkey's that
did the heater core/fan for the PO never got the ducting back in
right and there was almost nothing coming out of the Defrost vent
even though that new fan was moving good air.....Made my day.....Tom
