Hi, My faithful '93 burst a steering rack supply hose w/o warning. While cursing
German engineering for thoughtless placement, I ended up replacing it with the
original, rebuilt in my local shop, Briggs Rubber. They cut off the tubing ends and
brazed them to pressure fit hose connectors, then screwed them into the hose with
its new female ends ($35.). The project had been a pain ~starting the hollow pump
bolt thru the banjo end~ while keeping the entire thing aligned to mate with the
rack under the multiple brake lines. After the split into three parts, I sped thru the
job.
Now, I could steer to Carlisle Saturday, or even Friday and camp. I am undecided
about entering with the car for $30. (or more) or just walking in, since I have never
been there. If I come, I may load the trunk with spare parts. Are you going? I live in
Wilmington, Delaware, if anyone lives close. Bob
