Hi Tom,
thanks for the info. I have the same issue with the threaded part of the rod being to long. The manual shows something called a "Shock Absorber Mounting Ring" which is item# 7 on the exploded part diagram from the manual page 42-70-1. I did not take off a part like that - but maybe it should be there? There is a rubber thing included in the shock parts kit that I don't know what to do with so I left it out. It could not possibly be a spacer, but the very skimpy installation instructions show something like it in an impossible place. The instructions by the way look like they were translated from german to english by a dolphin. I can't believe the poor quality of the translation.
As for your spring positions difference - are you looking at two parts from the same side of the car?
