The trifecta is almost complete. “The Mists of Adriana” will be released in audiobook form sometime after the first of January. So it will be available as paperback, Kindle or eBook or audiobook by the end of January. I’ve put up a snippet in various places including Facebook today. The story is not at all about cars, but the two principal characters meet when he helps a woman who has had a flat tire on her Porsche early one cold morning in Maine. He changes her tire and gets her on the road again, and to thank him she invites him to come to Portland for lunch. When he arrives there she takes him to a private estate located in the western foothills of western Maine where there is a private race course used for “corporate” and other driver training. There they have some fun first driving her semi-rare Porsche 944 Turbo S, then his 928 S4. Here is the driving sequence in which this intriguing Adriana drives his 928S4:

Then Adriana was behind the wheel of my 928, pushing the buttons on the side of the seat that adjusted it. "Don't worry," she said. "I won't bend it or break it."

The 928 had a four speed automatic transmission. I assumed she would put the transmission lever into “D” and let the transmission shift itself. It was a surprise when she snapped the gear selector into “2” and we started rolling. Instinctively she was amazingly good with my car. No, better than that: she didn't so much drive the car, as make love to it. "I think it’s a second and maybe third gear course for this car, at most...probably second, but with all the torque of the V8, I dunno," She said, then she added quietly as the car began to roll, “Well, now, baby. Don’t you feel planted on the road…heavy are you? Do you want to dance with me?”

It wasn’t long until it was obvious she knew exactly what she could make the car do whenever she wanted to make it do it. She sat in the car like she was born to it. As we reached the “S’s”, she fed the car through with only the ends of her fingers moving the steering wheel. I knew she was driving the car much faster there than I ever would. Much faster than I ever could.

On the third lap I was sure we were going into the woods. She took the 928 up over the little rise very fast. Sitting in the passenger seat I felt my stomach fall away as the car for a second seemed airborne. The little bridge was just a blur. Adriana hit the brakes hard just before entering the hairpin. I thought we had just too much speed. Oh-ohh, too fast, too fast, too fast, I thought.

Suddenly the tires were loose on the road surface and the car was sliding sideways. I was sure we were going to spin into the trees that seemed to be coming toward my window in slow motion but still much too fast. I tore my eyes off the trees getting nearer and nearer to look at her. Adriana didn't seem to notice. Still gently, almost too gently I thought, she turned the steering wheel to the right into the direction of the skid, I could see just the tip of her tongue lightly touching the bottom of her top lip. Her fingers seemed to be touching the steering wheel lightly as she turned it just a bit more. Her right hand suddenly slapped the gear selector into second and I saw her right thigh tense beneath her slim pants as she floored the accelerator and I heard the big engine’s roar. "Ohhhh, POWER! Now, baby!" she cried out. I saw a huge grin beneath her sunglasses. Faster than I can say it the car snapped out of the sideways slide and was carving its way like an ice skater, through the “S” turns, Adriana grinning foolishly. What I thought was going to be a disaster had been a controlled exercise for her.

The book is here for all of you who now want to know more about this intriguing woman, but be fair warned: you will find out like he did that sometimes when things seem too good to be true....they often are. http://www.amazon.com/The-Mists-of-Adriana-ebook/dp/B009KPDENG/ref=sr_1_1_bnp_1_kin?ie=UTF8&qid=1353969295&sr=8-1&keywords=The+Mists+of+Adriana
