[V8] Sometimes wish we had fewer wet blankets

A couple of things... First, this probably should be a parts car, but is not yet. Second, I responded in 'wet blanket' (cough) form because I have seen the pics of this car. My point to Steve might be to convince the owner to become a Seller, rather than to convince a list of experienced v8 owners, to be prospective buyers with a hearsay statement of fear of the crusher. Me in the same situation, would advise the owner to give it a shot selling it, *after* presenting it's best possible condition. Too Many Quattros has pics, and I have pics, neither of which (I suspect) the owner would like to post as his 'as is' condition sale. Which then backs up to the strategy of the post itself, convince a owner on the fence, to be a Seller, not allow this to be controlled by experienced perspective buyers.
To your other comments, I gotta cough a bit more. I thoroughly enjoy my v8 ownerships, have had at least one in my fleet since 1995, and have built several in my shop, including full performance engine/suspension builds. Favorite of all time? Well, I also recently stumbled into a minty 95 S6, and even with my 92 v8 sporting the same lovely seats, tough to make that claim. Drive an early 2000s S8, and your eye starts to wander. Taking your line a step further, and say there is no other new car you would rather have, I am going to flat disagree, because as a Broker, I drive them all...
With my 92 sitting in my driveway well pampered, and fully functioning with its S6 seats, in the last month alone, I've spent a couple thousand miles with a 2012 BMW 535IX twin turbo, a 08 A4 wagon q, and an S6. I agree that the A4 (2.0 6spd q) is not my cup o tea, and even with its 32mpg Chicago to NY, would take my v8. But jump in that 535ix, it just plain pushes the v8 to the 90's in any/every comparo. Torque that my ABT chipped v8 can't match, mid 20's average mileage with 30mpg highway easily, a back up camera, lane change protection, a trunk that makes the v8 small, suspension and brakes that are nothing short of phenom, all easily outgun/outmatch my v8 in *any* comparison. Damn those Bavaria guys taking on quattro, are just that good.
Is the v8 a great value proposition? You bet! The lines are classic, the performance well matched, and the road miles effortless. But 'all time' and 'no new car' statements? I've got a list quite long before I can go there with you. Back on topic? I won't share my pics because they aren't mine to share, and that's not fair to the 'owner-prospective Seller'. Instead of waving nationalistic 'wet blanket' call to arms, why not use experience to help a 'lost owner' become a 'realistic Seller'. That's my message as a well seasoned v8 owner, that will LOL at any 'wet blanket' ascription to any aspect of my quattro resume.
Cheers all.

Hey Scott,
Wow I'm in Texas and would love nothing more than a few great parts. I might be one of the few and only but the V8 is my favorite car of all time. I'd rather drive it than any new car on the market. I thought the blk/blk '93V8 with 100K I bought a few years ago might be around again but I haven't seen a similar car since. So I've been restoring it. Probably will drive it 1K a year, cant wait to take it on the road. Daily driver is an A4 '06. My goal is to make it last as long as I can.
