[V8] V8 Service Manual

Hey thank you for the sending the scans of the pages from the manual.  I actually do have the manual on disc and I have also printed much of it out.  I also have the factory service tech introduction to the V8 quattro manual that went to all the dealerships.  (Which is very handy to have sometimes)  I actually used that and an old Keith Tackett post from the archives and proceeded from there.

Turns out it was the temp sensor in the radiator that was the problem.  I pulled the plug off and coolant came dribbling out.  Looked like it must have been leaking for some time...but a slow leak and since the belly pan is still in place, it never made it to the ground.  So I had a temp sensor in an old water neck from something I must have parted out.  I replaced the sensor and the harness to the temp sensor and I am back in business.  Auxiliary fan now works just the way it should.

Next task is flushing the heater core.  I still have almost no heat and everything else seems to be working well.  New thermostat has the engine coming up to temp, and I did do some of the diagnostic checks using the HVAC contol head.  What I did note was that one hose going through the firewall is hot and the return line is not.  So, I  think I have found my heating issue.  I just need to figure out the plumbing and pressurizing the core to back flush it.  I will be sure to keep you posted to let you know how I make out.

Hey Ted, do you have a copy of the manual?....If not, I can post a  
downloadable version  of the scanned Microfiche.....I'll try and find  
the pages Ed was mentioning, but since the Microfiche manual is the  
updated thru '94, usually test procedures are many pages and if you  
don't have any manual, you need one.....I've got the paper set for  
the '90, so I usually look everything up in that, and if the cars  
newer, then can find the section in the microfiche easier(1800  
pages).....let me know....Tom
