Well, been looking for some slightly used Michelin X-ice tires for a
few months now. My old one's are '04's and just hit the red mark on
my first ever tire gauge I bought today(4/32"). Those did all those
winters and @ least 2-3 trips to CO, and 4-5 to ID and I accidently
ran them into July one year being forgetful. I looked @ a "used one
season" set, and I concluded that the previous car had serious front
end issues, and that they probably ran them all summer on a roadtrip
to the desert....2 were toast, and the other 2 were 1/2 worn. Saw
another set come up, and the woman bought them last Dec. and got
totalled in Feb. New the've got 11/32" and these are worn really
even to just 9-10/32". Bill says $686 w/ everything, and I got the
4 unmounted tonight for $300. Michelin doesn't make a 215/60/15
anymore in either the X-icexi2 or the new X-ice xi3 and these are
205/65/15's xi2's. I'd mount them up tomorrow, but in putting the
worn snow's on last week before our storm, noticed Lago's drivers CV
boot had just failed(limited mess, and still pretty packed)......boot
kits will be here on Thursday, so won't be able to test out the new
tires till after that. Lago just hit 110K, and that boot is original
(as is the other) so got some good years out of that rubber. The
grease is still surprisingly "fresh". Can't wait to have a hard time
doing donut's in the ski area parking lot....Ha....Tom
