... think I'd check plugs and do a compression check first.  I got #2 from
someone who poured a lot of money into it because it was blowing "white
smoke" ... I found that in my case the smoke was due to the engine running
extremely rich.

I think I finally solved the brake problems, but today the motor started
blowing white smoke and it stumbles upon acceleration. Once it's moving it
seems to go ok, but from a dead stop it feels like crap. Seems like a blown
head gasket to me.
