[V8] transmission flush

I had a lot of miscellaneous stuff done to my 1990 V8 last summer. These were accumulated maintenance type things that needed attending to at that point and one thing I had my wrench do was a transmission flush. The car had around 85,000 miles from new a that point.

I think $400 is an awful lot for a transmission flush. My mechanic has a REAL transmission flush machine....he also has a V8 diptstick that he keeps on hand because of my car. Anyway, the process involved flushing the transmission, inspection and test drive for leaks and performance, etc, etc. Total cost was $134.60.

If your mechanic is looking for $400 for a transmisison flush, he is either planning on removing the transmission and turning it upside down to shake it, or he is thinking you will junk the car and give it to him.

My advice is to find someone else who has a REAL transmission flushing machine (I think my wrench’s is a Wynns, but I don’t really know), and see if they have a different price.

Roger
