Hey Chris, if he's not removing the pan and replacing the filter, $400
sounds pretty high. I'm a fan of replacing the filter because after
all, it's most likely been in there for 22 yrs, and how else are you
going to see what kind of goo is in that pan. These pics are from a
car w/125K that took the "filled for life" maintenance on the tranny
seriously. Those 2 wierd anemone shaped things are the magnets
covered with metal filings.....

Pull both cooler lines @ radiator, put hoses in 5 gal bucket with some
clear plastic over it(to not spray your lovely assistant, and so you
she can see the hoses). Start the car and as soon as it stops coming
out, shut off the car. Replace the o-rings and put hoses back on.
Drain pan for whatever's left, then remove the 6 bolts with the little
clips and pull the pan(after first removing the section of exhaust
that's in the way). Clean pan/replace magnets/change filter/new
gasket/reinstall. Refill with 10 qts of Mobil 1 or whatever. If you
do replace the filter, cut it open just to see what's in there....Tom
