[V8] 1990 V8 ignition lock - follow up

About a week ago, the steering wheel lock (the loud click when you remove
the key and the result of locking the steering wheel in place if turned)
magically started working again. I thought it might as the new parts
started to wear in a bit.

I had moved the car without starting the engine and had to muscle the
steering wheel without assist to park it. The next time I drove it I
noticed that the climate control panel had no power.

Assuming there was a connection I swapped in a different ignition switch.
No change. Turned to the troubleshooting steps in the v8 service manual and
tracked down a blown fuse, #17, a 20-amp fuse. Some of the plastic of the
fuse was actually melted such that the fuse did not come out in one piece.
I replaced it, reinstalled the ignition switch and the CC head is working
again.

I'm wondering if there could be any commonality between the replacement of
ignition switch and key lock mechanism and the fuse blowing or if it was
likely just coincidence.

I drove the car several times prior to this and things seemed okay aside
from the mechanical steering wheel lock after the key is removed.

suspect yours looks ok, but is functionally compromised... For now. I
suspect 1 of 2 outcomes based on my experience. The ignition switch will
fail again really soon, and or the locking keyway portion will eventually
present you with dismembered parts rendering it 'officially' broken.
