[V8] Windshield molding

I've had done probably 6 windshieds on type 44 and v8 in the last 8 months. The chrome is available aftermartket, but getting harder to find... The reason for that is the fact it adds about 100bucks to the price of the windshield installed cost. I got 1 where the guy insisted it be chrome. The rest (including my 91 200 and my 92 v8) I used the standard black moulding 5000 applications, and AFAIConcerned, the black looks factory correct.
Windshields are readily available and cheap aftermarket. 5000/200/v8 all use the identical windshield size. The difference between the windshields is later 200 and v8 used imbedded antennas (that never worked well when new - my wholesale cost differential for antenna is $50), and the location of the VIN plate opening in the black decal is different between the 5k and v8. My glass guy makes an additional window for the VIN plate at no charge.
Audi clearanced type 44 windshields a couple years ago, they are NLA in the US. The aftermarket probably has a 50 year supply, quoting my glass guy in Chicago.

Subject: [V8] Windshield molding
Afternoon all,
I'm getting my windshield replaced and was informed that the chrome molding is
NLA from the dealer along with the windshield itself. Safelite also said that
the generic molding they would use may not look very good...
What have you guys used? I'm not really a huge fan of the chrome, but it
matches everything and I would hate for the windshield to look tacky with an
obviously incorrect generic molding.
Thanks
Andrew
