[V8] interested in increasing fuel economy?

Wow that was fast. The 8 series guys are looking at about a 10-15% increase from what I could gather, with a 1/3 city and 2/3 highway driving.

The other thing that Im looking at is replacing the injectors. Ive called around to a few fuel injection specialists and moving up to the EV6 injectors will make a noticeable improvement in economy and more torque. If the software was tweaked we would seen another significant increase. I found a reference to Kia injectors that have the same flow rate but I don't know what car they were used in. Once I figure it out I'll be hitting the local Pick n Pull and seeing what I can find that will fit, although I still think a manual conversion would be more economical and way more fun...

Cool find! Since my cars are 5-speeds it wouldn't be of much help for me, but I am interested in increasing fuel economy.
I had a situation where I was running on 7 cylinders due to a plugged injector. The engine seemed to run fairly well this way, it just had a rougher idle than it should. Nowadays manufacturers are designing the control systems to shut off cylinders in low load situations (e.g. current model GM Trucks). By any chance have you come across groups that hack into the ECU to try to make changes to increase fuel economy? On the PT the injectors are paired, so you would have to shut off cylinders in groups of 2.

I was browsing our auto transmission online because I have such an active and exciting life. I ran across a forum of BMW 8 Series owners whose cars use the RWD version of our box. A forum member in Germany hated the fuel economy and decided to get an engineer involved and they developed an add-on box that makes the transmission kickdown come in earlier. It even looks like the units might connect directly to our transmission control units without their having to change the software. My question is, would anybody be interested something like this?
