[V8] Time to say goodbye

Friday evening we went to Bangor to see a performance of Il Divo. It was
quite a show held in the new auditorium that has been built at enormous
cost and even more enormous political wrangling. But the new center
will be a great addition to Bangor and a benefit to all of eastern Maine.

At the end of the show, Il Divo sang "Time to Say Goodbye", which has
prompted the title to this email for it is now time to say goodbye to my
V8 Quattro. You on this list are the first to know, should anyone here
be looking for a car like mine.

As you old timers on here know, this is the third V8 I have owned. It is
far and away the best one as it had the best pedigree and most complete
history of any of the others, although my '93 was an outstanding car also.

Mine is a '90, White Pearl on Black interior, including charcoal
headliner. The car was purchased in western Pennsylvania from a
specialty used car dealer and I picked it up with the company truck
pulling an auto transporter. It then went to my mechanic who did the
timing belt service and some other things the car needed to make it
100%...or as nearly so as any V8 ever is. The car has ONLY been
maintained by professional mechanics and I will be happy to send his
phone number to anyone who wants more details on what has been done to
the car. I have owned the car for five years. The car had 60,000 miles
on it when I bought it and now has almost 30,000 more.

I am not going to claim this to be the best V8 Quattro in existence.
But it might be one of the best dozen or so and I have tried to keep it
that way by paying the wrench the proper amount of dollars necessary to
keep things from running up behind me and biting me in the....well, you
know.

We live in an old farm house here in rural Maine. My wife and I have
been rebuilding the house since we came here three years ago, and as we
have done this and acclimatized ourselves to this new community we have
found that we need only one vehicle. Thus the station wagon is the ONE
vehicle we need for 99% of our travels and the V8 merely sits in the
garage. So, finally I have decided to move the car on to a new owner who
will benefit from the simple fact that it is a low mileage example, and
has nearly everything done to it by a professional that it needs to have
done.

If anyone is interested, I would be happy to discuss the car with him in
greater detail. I will not talk about price here, but will discuss it
with anyone who responds to this email to me privately off-list. I will
likely list this car on eBay sometime later in the week, although I have
thought to place it on Bring-a-trailer also. We'll see. I told my
mechanic that and he said I should have to bother and I should list it
as a "Bring-a-driver" because that's all it needs. The car is extremely
reliable now and so long as I continue to maintain it carefully, it will
continue to be so likely for as long as I can drive. But the simple fact
is that we don't need a car that never really gets driven.

So, any interest? Send me an email. I intend for the car to be sold,
so a serious buyer and I WILL come to an agreement.

Roger
