Interesting reading. I'll have to throw my hat in the ring of "do/spend whatever you need to prevent doing the job TWICE." Doing any repair/service twice for any preventable reason sounds like bad logic — think 'penny-wise, pound-foolish'. On the other hand, I'd be ok reusing an old part if I was 100% sure it would last as long or longer than a new one. I'm afraid I don't have enough intelligence or experience to make that determination — so my default is to replace with new. That said, I'm learning a lot by reading these posts.
Any ways, assuming I get my current V8 issues sorted, a TB job is next. I ordered a bunch of parts a couple of months ago, but honestly don't remember where I bought them. So I will use all of this info to review my list and add where necessary. I do know I don't have the TB tools. (I have the proper tools for a 2.8 V6 job, as I did that last fall.) Any suggestions of where I can get them? Anyone so kind as to lend/rent them? I'm in the Kansas City area.
Thanks, again for all of the help/advice.
Kevin
