I've got full previous receipts for 2/3 my 3 V8Q's. Cluster and transmission replacement under warranty on both before 60k. V8Q #1 got a new warranty cluster @ 34k and 56k, I had to go in and fix the cluster board at about 90k.

I've pretty much parked them and will be getting rid of my 4 ringed fleet this year if time permits. I just don't have the time they demand to keep them in top form. On a visceral driving level, I will miss the 200TQ the most.

Going to transfer the plate to my "new" Teutonic beast, a one owner '92 Mercyless Benz wagon, Florida car with 70k on the clock (got it for cheap from a friend) looks and drives like it left the showroom yesterday. If it's anything like my current '87 300TDT, it'll require little more than oil changes for the next decade or so. The 300tdt has a case of the salt worm, but still runs like new, I won't say what I've been offered for it, worn interior and all, but suffice it to say if I can get the same for my 3V8Q's combined, I'll be a happy camper.

If I hadn't returned to 2 wheeled pursuits a few years ago after a 26 or so year hiatus, I would have stuck it out with the 4 Rings.

Yeah, getting old changes the way you look at things, especially the things you want to dedicate time, skinned knuckles, and backache to.

It currently can't decide whether I'm gonna run out of gas or should check the coolant now......The rebuilt pressure hose appears to have a small weep, and I'm getting a drip or 2 out of the brake pedal....They simply are the nicest, most irritating cars on the planet. I'm in it for the long haul, as I don't know what I'd buy to replace either, and pretty sure there's nothing to replace the 5-speed. If I could make the rear seat fold down like a Saab, I'd be in heaven.....Guessing that 54K car might have an old dried out Timing Belt....Ha. Tom
