5 speeds will run just fine on the ECU from an automatic. BTDT. If you cared that much you could swap the EPROM.

Woah, don't check the list for a week, and all hell breaks loose.   
Don't have time for a proper response right now, but I'm a little  
dissapointed I didn't hear about any of these 5-speeds going to the  
crusher.  Mine's been down for almost a year now with either a bad  
wire, or bad ECU(at least that's where the book tests have led me).   
I didn't bother to post a "5-speed ECU wanted" as I doubted anyone  
had a spare, and just figured that anyone with a 5-speed would post  
it before crushing it.  I'm DESPERATLY in the market for a 5-speed  
ECU and apparently now will need to deal with a junkyard instead of a  
friend.  Anyone with the contact info of any of these junked 5-speeds
