I got the line out of the V8 tonight. I had to lower the subframe a bit to
get it out, but I did manage to get it out. Looking at VAGCat, two numbers
seem to come up for it. A quick search yields major price differences
between the two numbers. One I found (if their inventory is even correct)
at $198, the other came up at nearly $520. I'm wondering if one is for the
aluminum 4.2 part, and the other is for the 3.6 part...whatever that is.
Would this mean they're interchangeable, and a line from a 3.6 could
potentially work? I doubt a thin aluminum line would be repaired, so that's
out. Or I could just snap a few pictures and contact Shokan with a few
pictures and part numbers. While I was under there, I noticed a torn
passenger side CV boot. Other than that, everything seems fine, including
the motor mounts, which makes be wonder why it was even touching the
subframe anyway.

Part of me wants to break out the Dremel and cut the exhaust bolts off and
drop that to replace the tranny filter and everything while I'm under
there. If you're going to do it, do it the right way...right?
