I posed this post about a week ago, but had not addressed the content like the "Depressing" thread did.
I was one that fell really hard for the V8 in 2001 and have owned 4 V8s and still have 3 rusting in my driveway. My first one I completely went through the car and fixed everything. The transmission deal defect hit me hard. Only to have the same type of repair occur in my wifes 2003 A6 (but this one was inside the torque converter). Even will all the issues my wife still purchased a new S5 in 2013.
I agree that the V8 will long be forgotten in another 5 years. Someone mention that the BMW GTGs have more vintage vehicles than the recent 30th Anniversary Audi event. I think BMW does take better care of the parts supply for older cars than Audi does. Every so often I look at the clearance parts on vwparts.com (includes Audi as well). It is clear by the listing of these parts on that site and the obsolescence rate you see in ETKA that Audi does not have a business case to support our 25 year old V8s or any other Audi older than 10 years.
I simply do not have the time with work; a Move to Austin TX from Colorado; not to mention the house remodel for the Colorado real estate listing.
What do you guys think about looking at the parts of the V8 that other vintage Audi guys need and part out to satisfy that need? I considered looking at the following items that may be marketable:
* Sport Seats (everyone has had the itch to upgrade a car they once owned to a more comfortable seat)
* 5-Speed O1E transmission (can be used for many upgrades or swaps.)
* Torsen Differential (I seem to remember that it was the Diff of choice for S6 or was that S4)
* Alternator (many cross vehicle uses)
* BBS Wheels (but no one want 15's any longer)
That is about all I can think about right now. The V8 could live on in someone else's build for years to come.
Anyof you want the larger diameter Anti-sway bar from my 1993? I also have a Fresh ZF HP19 Trans sitting in the crate!I have boxes of parts and spares in case anyone is interested.
I will be disposing of the V8s in another month. I'd part what I can then flatbed them over to the recycling yard.

In reading my October issue of Automobile magazine there is an article about the 25th anniversary of Infiniti and Lexus.
In the sidebar titled "Why 1989 was a big year," the article makes mention to the Audi V8. They state the V8 is a contender next to the new Infiniti Q45 and the Lexus LS400.
So, wow, has the Audi V8 held up as well as those new cars that also were new to the market? In general, Yes!
- Infiniti still makes the V8 equipped Q as the Q70 5.6.
- Lexus still makes the LS as the LS460.
And of course we have the A8.
Happy 25th Anniversary Audi V8.
