FWIW I replaced my front strut inserts at around 80k. The strut mounts
didn't need replacing I felt so I went for it. The main reason I didn't
replace the mounts was that I knew the struts were having
issues....vibrating steeing wheel syndrome, but there was no sound form
the front end and I decided to take a shot. I buught for cheap the strut
nut wrench and did the job myself in my garage, then when the car next
went for its oil change in a couple of months, I had the wheels aligned
at the shop. Still no sign of strut mount wear at nearly 90k.
