[V8] A8 flywheel sensors

Tom,
There is only one RPM sensor on the up to 99 A8 - newer than that and the sensor is different but I think there is still only one? This is unlike our v8 with two. There is a cam sensor on one head I think - but it could have two? I don't think this will cause it to die though? The RPM sensor is on the transmission bellhousing right where the trans meets the engine and is on the drivers side about half way up. The plug for it is above and I think reachable from below - my car has a manual transmission and is smaller so it is easier to get to so you may have to un-plug it from the top? There is usually one 10mm head hex bolt holding the sensor, but it could be an allen head - ive seen both. Good luck.

Hey Jason, thanks for
responding. This was for a friend who lives way out in
Neah Bay on the coast and admittedly is mechanical enough to
be dangerous......If he knew what it looked like and where
it was he could do it.
Is access from
above or below/which side. Does the car have a RPM sensor
also? Does it have cam sensor(s). Thanks for the
link...Bosch for cheap...love it. Hope all's well,
Sincerely, Tom
