[V8] Starter Issue?

Ahhh, perfect timing on this subject.  Yesterday when I was trying to figure out the no start, was wondering if the "anti theft system" disables ignition/fuel and from my limited knowlege of wiring diagrams, can't see how it does it, so would love to know if that's actually the case or not.  

5-speed has a similar issue after sitting.  Now I have to turn the drivers key the opposite direction which opens the lock, but also arms the alarm.  I found that if I unhook the battery, then hook it back up, alarm is no longer armed, so haven't locked it since doing that, but now that it runs, need to lock it.  I assumed somehow that the switch/lock are out of sync(didn't lock it the entire 2-3 yrs it was in storage).  Lago had a similar problem and think I just removed the gear, so the alarm doesn't get armed.  If I wasn't having so much fun driving around today, was gonna remove lock and see what's up(maybe plastic gear broke?). 
 
I found a great writeup from 2000 from i believe was Chris Miller's site(no longer up) with the first photo/maybe whole writeup courtesy of our own Steve B....and it's mentioned that the plastic gear and the metal arm both have a smaller notch in them to alighn when installing.  It's saved as a web archive file in my Mac, so not sure if I can post/send it, but will try.  Tom
