Hey Roger, one thing you might want to check also is the Air Idle Controller right on the front of the motor. The 5-speeds had apparently froze up while sitting for 3 years. I got lucky and it gave me that code, and so pulled it off, and it was stuck. Grabbed a spare, and noticed it didn't open all the way, but moved smoothly. Cleaned it with carb cleaner and worked it a few times with some wires/battery. Threw it in(3 acorn nuts and about a minutes time), and it's now perfect. It's always idled a bit high, and my guess is that it was sticky, and the "vacation" gave it time to corrode stuck. Just let it idle in the driveway for 1/2 hr or so, and the "bad gas" symptoms/high idle have dissapeared completely.
In the boat world there are 2 types of people, those that fill the tank to the brim to limit condensation, and those that leave it basically empty before letting it sit. Having a 115gallon aluminum tank would mean that if for some reason(even with Stabil) I had to leave the boat for 3 yrs, I'd end up with 115gallons of bad gas. So my guess is that once you burn that gas out, you'll be fine. I purposely left Lago with a few gallons when it got parked for 3-4 yrs waiting for me to get to the belt job....5-speed got left with 1/2 tank(treated), and I can't wait to weld that mount and be able to burn it out sooner than later. Hope your's continues to heal itself....Tom
