I just realized that my wife used this same criteria 3 years ago to see if she would keep me around for the 5 years.

Changing out the fuel filters is a good idea if not just for regular maintenance.
The miss and lack of power on the road when it was damp and raining sure sounds like
Dist. Caps and wires getting moisture in or around them.
If any are suspect because of age or miles then replace them.
The sudden lack of power coming off the hwy to regular street traffic and only crawling
sounds a bit like you were in limp mode. Did you look at the gear indicator to see if they
were all lit up? If you were low on trans fluid coming off the hwy and down shifting, that
may have momentarily caused the trans to go into limp mode when you are border line low on fluid.

Just my thoughts on it, Bob
