No to graphite powder please! As a Certified Registered Locksmith, in my opinion/experience the only choices would be white lithium grease or silicone spray for any/all lock cylinders. Debate amongst the pros on which of these two are better, silicone tends to last a little longer before cleaning, but white lithium protects from the elements for outdoor/automotive locks better IMO/E. I use white lithium spray on all my audi locks.
Sounds to me like the OP has a stuck tumbler. The best procedure would be to spray or soak the whole assembly in WD40 until the key will go in all the way (unstick the tumbler). Then spray with a cleaner (brake cleaner works well). Then use either silicone spray or white lithium grease spray (only!) through the keyway and work the key in and out until the tumblers are well lubed.
There is no need to disassemble the cylinder to fix, unless a tumbler and/or tumbler spring is actually broken. If it is, I'm sure I have a spare in my possession.
