[V8] Two Types of side Tail-lights???

Hi all,

(I posted about this a couple weeks ago and am 75% there in terms of
getting the parts I need)

In my attempt to secure the parts I need I came across something I never
knew (and am trying to resolve/)  My 1992 v8 has a deep red/ amber square
on the left and right top corner tail-lights.  When I got a replacement
shipped that square was much whiter/ lighter.  I also asked for a picture
from Chris at Force5 and his was the same.

Does anyone know the story of this difference (is it 1992 cars and later?)
Also does anyone know where I can source a left darker light?  I actually
think I prefer that look and I have a perfect one on the right side.

(Also anyone have a black trunk?)
