[V8] another quandry

I am driving a Subaru Legacy sedan now as a rental because my allroad is in the body shop ( cuz a jackass in a forerunner was a jackass...) and I can’t tell you how much I hate this POS.
It’s noisy.
It handles like a neurotic wasp that has been snorting Adderall (Its twitchy and changes direction faster than trump).
The brakes don’t feel strong.
The seats are hard and the suspension is too stiff.
The stereo sucks.
The reverse camera is useless, and the visibility out the windows is not great.
The overall design seems tailored for a 14 year old.
And I have only had it a few days...
Honestly I don’t get what people like about these cars. I know the turbo models have motors that grenade with alarming ease, and the transmissions suck, but they have a good ad campaign?
I find little to love in japan cars. I’ll take an older Audi any day.
Interestingly, I was in japan on a ski trip and our rental was also a Subaru. The thing was constantly beeping and yammering at us in Japanese. In fact, everything in japan beeps and yammers at you constantly. Even our stove would not shut up. The skiing however was fantastic!

Personally, if you are considering that seriously, take a look at the AWD v6 Toyota Venza. A lot of machine for the money, and the v6 awd driveline is silky and excellent mileage to boot.

Also, our total use of the vehicle will likely not exceed 12,000 miles annually, so how bad will fuel mileage make ownership? I'm expecting perhaps 20 miles per gallon overall, which is about what the 100CS did, in general.
