I'd love to hear more about changing these bearings. I just changed
the rod and main bearings (crank in place) in hopes of improving
low hot oil pressure on my Jetta TD. Old bearings looked good even
with about 300k km, so oil pressure is the same... :-( I figured it was
worth a shot since I had the trans out to replace failed clutch, and I
needed to pull the pan anyway...
I still get about 25-30psi at 3000 rpm hot with 15w40 oil. Oil pump
appears to be within tolerances.
