Try being self employed. You pay more to social security than income
tax! Any private "retirement" that was run like it is would be called fraud!
Problem with high production biodiesel ends up being a two ended stick.
You get the price down by increasing supply. Increasing supply raises
demand for canola or such. Price of vegetable oil goes up. Field farmers
jump in on the cash crop and production goes up. Prices drop overall and
although demand and usage is higher, farming profits are now marginal and
smaller farms go under unless run very efficiently.
Farm subsidies arguments tend to torque my banana. I've grown up in
an agricultural area and although Dad was able to afford a brand new
tractor this year, he's NEVER seen a farm subsidy except for a "diesel
powered" tax credit that existed for a couple of years. They do it by
being conscientious, thrifty, do-it-yourselfers and using farming practices
that produce the most, best fruit for the money and effort involved. They
make money because they're darn good at it and when the market smiles
on them. Mostly it's when the market smiles on them! This is how I got
hooked on diesels. I grew up knowing that they do start in cold weather,
don't need a lot of piddley maintenance and are efficient. :) Not all
farmers
are paid by the government. Most do their best not to be bankrupted by it!
