didn't produce enough, were evicted and replaced, or executed as suspected
 thieves.  When one bad year came along, almost everyone went hungry, and
 sometimes many died. Do a search for FAMINE, or CROP FAILURE, if you don't
 know much about history.  There's a reason why the English were only a bit
 over 5 foot in the viking days...
