[Vwdiesel] Which cars spec'd with 1.9L NA diesels?

Hi,

Given that it looks very likely that the 1.6L NA diesel in my
1982 vanagon is in need of a rebuild, I'm exploring options for
engine replacement as a means of salvaging the rest of this
summer for camping.

What I'd like to know is is what years and for what models was
the 1.9L normally aspirated (non-turbo, non-TDI) IDI engine sold
stock?  I don't know if the 1.9L NA was ever sold in the US, but
I know it *was* sold in Canada--which is just fine by me, since
I'm located in Canada.  I'd like to know so that I can narrow my
search of the boneyards.  I seem to recall them coming in Golfs
and Jettas, but I don't know what years.

Also, what should I expect to pay for a good condition used
wrecker engine from a donor car?  Ideally I'd like the long long
block (injection pump, injectors, glow plugs, etc.) with it,
since it'll speed my engine swap and get me back on the road
quicker.
