  Most likely it means the physical blockage that keeps you from going
into reverse without pushing down on the shift lever.  If you're adjusted
too far to the right then it'll go in without having to push down.  If you
had
a 5 speed, then you'd likely loose 5th with that same out-of-adjustment.
