[Vwdiesel] Mechanic recommendation needed White Rock, BC

Be careful about what the mechanic says!!! He's most likely diesel inept.
I've heard ALOT of engine noises, and several rod knocks in my 25 years of
working on cars. Then the Jetta TD did it. I pulled the rod bearings (they
looked great), replaced them, and it still knocked like hell intermittently
for the next 20 K miles. Someone on this great list suggested checking the
injectors. That what it was. A rebuilt set of injectors cured the problem. If
a diesel injector misfires because its bad, it can make a noise that mimicks
a bad rod bearing, even to the most discerning ears.
