[Vwdiesel] Replacing Fuel Injectors

What's the general consensus as when to replace fuel injectors. I
replaced them in the TD at about 160,000 miles (really bad knocking, so
it was past due). At 251,000 I'm installing a rebuilt TD and I'm
wondering if I should just replace the injectors (these have about
90,000 miles on them) too w/ remanufactured ones (about $160?). I want
to avoid the hassle of taking in the old ones and waiting for them to be
checked. I have noticed that I'm now getting black smoke on
acceleration, (along w/ lots of oil smoke now!) so possibly they are
getting worn. Any thoughts? BTW I got new belts, TB tensioner, water
pump, so that'd be icing on the cake. (Those hoses just cost too damn
much, though. I paid about $300+ last time I replaced them. Tx.
