I just took a bolt who's head fit the bung, and jammed 2 nuts on it. plug it
in to the plastic bung and wrench it out with a socket.

It's now part of my collection of homemade "Special Volkswagen tools", along
with a bung remover for trannies, made much the same way, wedges for the
exhaust spring clips, a calibrated length of 2x4 to hold up the clutch lever
when changing a cable, and so on, ad nauseum.
