[Vwdiesel] What does a turbo sound like to the average person?

Funny you should mention that, mine sounds similar. When I first got the car
last year and was driving in the city I thought I heard a siren behind me,
so I looked in the rearview mirror and saw nothing. Kept watching it for a
bit and still saw nothing behind me with flashing lights. I figured out it
was the turbo whine pretty quickly, I was a little surprised by the noise
since I was used to driving an NA diesel previously.

BTW, thanks to everyone for the suggestions about my electrical problems a
few weeks ago. Looks like it was an extremely loose alternator belt. Put a
new Contitech belt on from Adirondack and tightened it properly, now it's
fine. I also cleaned the ground contacts completely, that may have helped as
well. All better now though. :)
