[Vwdiesel] Correct oil for a 1985 Jetta TD engine (in a 81 Pickup)

  That's about as good of a non synthetic oil as you can get. I run Cennex
Superlube 15W-40 and was told Mobil, with the same specs, would be close.
Rotella is great too.  I haven't been sold on the cost/bennefit ratio on
synthetic
oil in a diesel yet.  Therefore I'm not going to tell you synthetic is the
only way
to go.  :)  I'd tend to steer away from the Fram filters if you have the
option.
I don't think they're quite the "of the devil" filter that most give them
credit for,
but there are better.  :)  (I've used them before)
