Good question, and it deserves a good answer. Since I don't have one yet , I
will baffle you with BS. It was snowing a nasty wet snow last night and it
was midnight by the time I got to the firewood chore so I didn't look into
it any deeper.
I did get out the Bentely and looked at the wiring diagrams though and it
appears that the radio power is tied into the same wire as the dash lights,
ash tray light, glow plug system, turn signals, backup lights, marker
lights, brake lights, and the dimmer (dash) switch. I don't think I left any
members out of that list? Anyways, if the radio is getting power from the
same wire and the two wires are from the radio harness, then would it NOT be
possible for it to be back feeding low voltage through the speaker wires?
I guess I am assuming that these were speaker wires, one was green with a
black stripe and the other was brown I believe. I will check into it further
in the near future, but at least I have been able to put a bandaid on it for
now and I don't have to pop the hood and remove the battery cable every
night! ( BTW the wires were located under the speaker grill on the passenger
side of the hatch compartment) Tom
