If you look at the Fram filter as a COMPARISON between other
manufacturers, you can plainly see that the FRAM is not of the
same build quality as the others. There are comparison websites
out there where you can get this info. I personally know at
least one person who lost a complete engine which was directly
tracable to the FRAM filter. Fram even bought him an engine rebuild
as a result. Take the personal experience, the actual photos you
can find, and testimonies of the people on this list and others,
you can start to draw patterns. You may be able to use FRAM your
whole life and not have any problems. Then again, you might be
the 1 in 10000 that gets that bad filter and loses an engine. The extra
dollar I spend on a quality filter is a small price to pay for my
peace of mind. Not to mention the hassle I would have to go through if
I lost an engine due to a bad filter. Unfortunately, with them being
so common and so cheap, many folks who don't know any better continue to
support this less than quality product.
